Thanks all for the responses, REALLY appreciate it, especially boatycalls offer.
We are heading out this morning to go camping and all is working well hooked to shore power and both batteries are charged and disconnected for now. The battery cables are marked positive and negative and am confident the polarity is proper.
We are not dry camping so I should be able to get by till I get home and dig into this issue better or maybe a little while camping. Unfortunately this problem arised during the 4th of July weekend while too busy with plans to really dig into and now out the door Monday morning.
