First my system....
3 100 AH Battleborn batteries in parallel replacing 420 AH of AGM
1050 Watts solar
80 Amp Epever solar controller
3000 watt inverter
60 Amp Progressive Dynamics converter with remote charge wizard
After a lengthy discussion with BB here is my routine:
1. I leave the solar connected all the time, it is programmed
according to the blog on BB website.
2. I turn off the PD converter when connected at home.
3. Day before leaving on a trip I turn on thr PD converter and
"top off" the batteries.
4. Solar keeps the batteries full with our normal use
5. 3000 Watt inverter runs everything in the coach except the A/C
6. Built in Onan for A/C if needed.
Observations:
1. Voltage of the LI batteries is very constant under load unlike the
AGM, I liken it to your cordless tools with LI batteries, ie they
work just fine till the battery is "dead" with little reduction in
speed/power.
2. My solar setup will charge the batteries to full (14.6 V)by mid day
if there is any direct sunlight.
The cost is certainly a factor, but I probably will never have to buy any more batteries for our rig. :B
