Forum Discussion
- MEXICOWANDERERExplorerThe vagaries of the written versus (live) word...
Chat forums are are the perfect venue to display the weakness, the inability of words written to convey the intent and meaning of what a poster is trying to say.
In a face to face conversation or even on a radio or telephone, perhaps 30 - 50% more information is transmitted. Tone of voice, facial expressions and body language is the 30% missing, and that percentage is dang well high enough to cause misinterpretation.
I try and take a deep breath and count to 20 (ten isn't high enough) before I decide whether or not a questionable response is really what it "seems" to be. The power of the cyber pen makes many feel vulnerable. A public forum response can be read by hundreds if not thousands of eyes and whether we acknowledge it or not, that fact sensitizes us. The end result can be a hair-trigger reaction to what we perceive as criticism, or worse, ridicule. In fact it usually is all "seeming" and not based in fact or even in reality.

So please enlighten the rest of us what the "subtle nuance" between a wink and a smiling face is, and how it impacts the context of your post. Must really matter if you made a point of it.
BTW- if done right and carefully, one can rob RF from a radio station and turn it into a nice charge or primary power. Used to be a big problem for broadcasters - mena661Explorer

Sorry if I misinterpreted the "Go Frac yourself" remark. I guess the smilie face meant 'just kidding'?
If you look a little closer, or maybe put on some reading glasses, you'll see it's a wink, not a smiling face.
Subtle nuances.

There are places where you can put a lighter to your water and watch it burn. Go Frac yourself. ;)
Sounds like something W.C. Fields would have said.
Aw shucks, if algae lives in diesel how bad can it be?
Wish I could live long enough to see China turn into an earthly version of the atmosphere of Uranus. Cloud bands, glow in the dark, mutations, the whole 3001 A Space You Ought To See. - NinerBikesExplorer

Oh great, another 'holier than thou' remark. I'm guessing Niner pulls his rig with either a solar vehicle or a bicycle.
Why are you making it personal Keller? I don't care how they get the oil out of the ground, if it's cost effective and safe. - kellertx5erExplorer

No NG, but I lived in an environment with lithium bromide chiller for A/C and a combination of Nuclear Reactor and battery electric power. (Various submarines.... solar power was a non-starter. ;) )
