Best wax to use???

We are getting ready to tackle waxing our 38' FW and would like to know others opinions on what is the best and easiest wax to use. I know that best and easiest isn't always in the same category but with our FW being so big we just don't want to take FOREVER getting it done!:)

Thanks!

Same here. NuFinish is economical and last a long time.

It doesn't matter how well it beads water on the walls, because walls - usually - are not areas of water ingress. Therefore, waxing on the walls, especially filon walls, has solely esthetic effects like making cleanup easier. So if you think you still need this, - the cheapest one is the winner. The worst nightmare of filon-walled owner is delaminating, and this is not caused by filon wear and neither can be prevented by waxing.
  • I like Star Brite Marine polish with PTEF, though it is not cheap, it is easy wipe off.

Regular waxes on my surfboard hulls bead water for 3 or four sessions before they are gone. This Star Brite with PTEF stuff lasts dozens of sessions before the same 'lack of bead' is reached .

On My vee hickle, it beads water for 6+ months. I've never had any other off the shelf wax bead water for that long.

I also have heard excellent things about Collinite that another poster mentioned. I had excellent results with one of their dedicated metal polishes on some salt water worn aluminum, but have no experiences with their other products

On the walls I would say - none. It does nothing to increase the longevity of the filon coat. On the roof you might consider Aero 303.

Incredibly easy to use, durable, and about the only one that doesn't leave marks on black plastic or rubber. Used to use NuFinish - this is much better.

It also goes so far, I would bet one bottle would easily do your entire rig with some left over.

    Check the reviews!
  • I like both Mother's and Meguiar's. They both contain Carnuba wax which is a very hard wax. I just did the Mother Ship last week. I spread it out over 4 days and it looks pretty good.
  • I was using regular Meguiar's like I use on the vehicles until a fellow member here on the forum recommended Meguiar's marine wax, $22/qt here on Amazon.

Does a much better job on the fiberglas sides that the regular auto wax. Just did mine yesterday and it looks great!
  • Just finished mine this morning. I use Mothers. Or any wax that is not expensive. I have tried them all and can't really tell the difference. I used Nufinsh as well it's a good product but when I am done waxing I like to feel the smoooooth finish. I don't get that with NuFinish so I just use wax. I do like the results of Newfinish though just not as much fun to use.
