The 'Honda or nothing enthusiasts are coming out of the woodwork with their LAME excuses as to why the Honda is superior (it 's not but lets let them extol the imagined virtues anyway...lol)
The next vid shows the interior with the panels removed. You can see the quality of assembly, even the poster of the video comments on the 'Honda like' quality of the components.
and... an extra $124.00 (over the retail price for a 3 year, no questions asked warranty so total cost would be $649 plus $124 = $773.00 for a unit equal to in build quality better sound attenuation qualities and lighter (I might add) than the Honda (benchmark) unit for what basically 3 times the cost and never on sale...
Looks to me like Honda just became the second choice.
Bet this thread really comes alive now you let the cat out of the bag Mr. Wizard...lol:E
Lot's of careless statements and conclusions here IMO.
"The 'Honda or nothing enthusiasts are coming out of the woodwork with their LAME excuses as to why the Honda is superior "
I haven't seen that in this thread. Are they coming out of the woodwork somewhere else?
"it 's not" (superior)
How the heck can that be determined when the new "king of the hill" has been out there for only a month or so? Is it based on anything deeper than videos focused on sound level tests?
"a unit equal to in build quality"
Has this been proven by other than casual visual inspection?
"better sound attenuation qualities"
Did I miss the test against the eu3000i?
"lighter (I might add) than the Honda"
The spec weight of the HF generator is indeed lighter than the spec weight of the eu3000i. But it's heavier than the eu2000i, which the noise comparisons in the video were made against. Have any of the reviewers actually verified the weights? Does the lighter weight indicate better technology, or does in indicate cut corners on that "equal" build quality?
"Looks to me like Honda just became the second choice."
Perfectly ok to have your opinion. I'm a bit more conservative. For ~15 years, the Honda eu-series has been the clear leader in its market segment IF price is taken out of the picture. Will the eu-series ever be exceeded? Of course! For me the only questions are (1) Why has it taken so long?, and (2) Who will do it, Honda or somebody else?
A lot of "Honda killers" have come and gone over the years. Is the HF generator finally the one? Could be. It's just that the victory dance is a few years early.
