My unwritten 'rule of thumb' for any import engine (and most are including Briggs is:
I change the initial oil fill after a couple hours of running under load (to get out any manufacturing debris that might be left inside the case) and then change it twice yearly and observe the color of the oil to see how much blowby is in it.
Most hold maybe 2 quarts maximum so cost is negligible anyway.
The Champion I have suggested initial change at 4 and then every 20. Not like it's a 20 quart diesel oil change.
