Built in inverter generator

I have an Onan 3600watt propane genset in my fifthwheel.
Great convenience and easy to use, BUT it runs at full speed all the time and is a bit noisy inside the trailer.
I don't think anyone makes an inverter type builtin genset. Sure would be nice though.
Does anyone else think this would be a good idea? I emailed Onan a while back but never got an answer. I think a genset like this would be very desirable.
Cheers
Chris

That's a good idea. We are buying a new fifth wheel soon.
I'll have to measure and see if a Honda 3k unit will fit.
    Thanks for the pic.

You know.. I have an ONAN 5500. and I'll admit that inside the RV I can hear it purr nicely... I do not often hear it roar less both A/C's try to kick in at the same time.

100 feet away.. I've been told "You can start the generator now" and leaning against the Gen-Turi I don't have to raise my voice to chat with the city inspector who was there to hear how loud it, as it turns out, is not.

On the other hand I've also stood beside a 5KW honda.. I had to raise my voice. (Do not think it was an inverter model though).
  • Generac made the Impact 3600, which was a very nice little unit (other than the awful reliability :)) Most of the Onan Quiet Diesel models are inverter based.
  • I have never seen a factory built-in inverter-generator.
