Oh, dear...this is new. Anyone know what this might be about? Water damage?

Good to hear. It was very wet last night and it's got a skin on it but it's still reallly soft. If I add more I'm guessing I should wait until it dries really well -- would a blow dryer help? -- then clean again and reapply? Sunny and windy today. Hoping that will dry it out. Humidity is at 60% but might drop a bit as it warms up.
