burst pipe protection?

It will work up to the amount of water in the pipe and the expansion of frozen water against the foam and surrounding pipe(and probably immediate adjacent areas). If water is trapped against a joint and expands in that fitting, the product will do nothing to prevent the fitting from bursting.
