Polys are getting smaller. My 250w polys are smaller than my older 230w poly.
12v panels are expensive compared to 24v panels. I have been looking for a pair of 140w or 150w to make a hinged portable but they each cost as much as a much larger 24v panel.
Finally got the page to come up. Do you have to pay VAT and such over and above the $198?
Yes we have sales tax. Federal sales tax 5% and provincial sales tax 7% for 12% but only the fed tax was applied to the solar panel. ( I also bought an inverter but they applied both taxes to that--they pick and choose which things to tax depending on the politics of the government in power at the time)
So bottom line-- sale price of the panel 198.99 plus 9.95 tax = 208. 94 minus store discount today only special deal of 16.72 = 192.22 CAN, or about $146 US at 76 cents if I did that right.
The Sunforce guy said they were making a new 150w panel that is also smaller than their old 120w jobs. Something to do with the cells being smaller nowadays.
I was looking at this guy's ad for 200w panels for $100 each and thought JiminDenver would have them all in a flash. :) Only thing is I would need a second Eco-W to run one, so it would double the price and a bit. Still cheaper per watt than two of those 100w ones on sale though. ( I wanted the smaller physical size panel for this particular job, so I couldn't take advantage. :( ) I already have a PWM controller in the spare parts bin, so that is "free."
