Been my experience also.
As the household, higher voltage panels have more cells and higher wattage, guess you get some sort of bulk-buy discount with them.
My 3 panels (2x190,1x300) have all been around Can$1 per watt in Ontario (+tax) from two different dealers (picked up, not shipped). But you need a more expensive mppt to go that route.
If all you really need is a small pwm, 12V system then CanTire may be the cheapest way to go up here.
