Mobile (manufactured housing) require a special water heater. Yes you can install a mobile home water heater in a stick built house if it has a draft hood. You can not install a stick built (regular) gas water heater in a mobile home. Mobile home heaters are convertible from natural gas to propane (LP) and have a "sealed" combustion chamber. Meaning that some heaters require the combustion air be drawn in from some where other than the inside of the house.
