- CA_TravelerExplorer IIII wouldn't want to walk on a solar panel on a RV roof - glass can be very slick...
- mena661ExplorerGood info thanks!
- BoonHaulerExplorerSo I've been calling around this morning to get as much information as possible. The panels in the video are their Sunmodule 'Protect' series with two layers (1 front 1 back) of 2mm glass for a total of 4mm.
Their regular panels are 1 layer of 3.2mm glass.
As for suppliers, NAW&S and Solar Blvd do not have and can't get these panels. The panels they're selling are not even their 'Plus' modules although the NAW&S website has them listed as plus panels.
I found 270 watt SW 'Protect' panels at Wholesale Solar for basically $1.50 a watt.
Pricey aren't they ....... - mena661ExplorerSolarblvd.com has some SolarWorld panels in stock. They also have something else there that I'll post in another thread.
- MEXICOWANDERERExplorerBah!
I have falling coconuts down here that would go through those panels like ---- through a goose. - BoonHaulerExplorerTo me being able to walk on the panels is a real plus I thought I'd never be able to do.
My panel layout over the garage has four panels with two along each side. This layout provides for a minimum walkway between the two rows. Being that I'm getting old and wobbly these days I'm sure I'd be stepping on the panels more often than not. - NinerBikesExplorer

And with the prices of panels falling to only around $1 per square foot

Yeah, in your dreams !
Maybe he meant square watts? :S - mlts22Explorer IIInteresting. The Tundra parking on them definitely is a seller for me, although I can't think of when I would be needing to do such a thing.
- jrnymn7ExplorerCouldn't one simply put a thin layer of plexiglass, or something similar, over the panel for added protection?

You park the car in the garage, silly. :)
