I run both of our (Airxcel) 15k BTU A/C units while we run down the road and never have a problem.
I've run our A/C units for HOURS on end (we frequently run Houston Tx to the northern Shenandoah Vally of Virginia) and we do it non-stop in both directions and have never had a problem w/ the A/C units.
imo your situation is either with the generators or something unique w/ the set up.
