Again, thanks for everyone's replies.
I am not opposed to looking into the vacuum build-up in the rear of the trailer as a potential culprit, but two things about that theory have me perplexed.
1) The generators run fine with eco mode off and the AC off. This means they are running wide open, just as they are when the AC is on. As I mentioned before, there is minimal loading without the AC, but they ran in this state for over 8 hours last week coming back from a trip with no issues.
2) I will admit up front that I do not know exactly what the Honda engineers put into these generators for shutdown logic, but I am unable to draw a connection between a vacuum buildup and an overload condition. The fact that with the AC, both of these generators go into an overload state at high speed, has me wondering how a vacuum buildup can cause that, especially given #1 above.
But, again, I will investigate everyone's suggestions. The idea of moving the generators to the bed of the truck is a great idea, but getting power from them to the trailer will be interesting.
Thanks again and if someone is intimately familiar with these generators and has an answer for #2, I would really like to try to understand that.
