Hi Tim,
You can add a switch. My converter happens to plug in right at the breaker box. Some converters are on their own breaker, so it can be used instead of a switch.
I believe Tim wants to run an inverter so he can have 120 volt power, where there is no shore power with restricted hours for generator use.
I went one step further and added an auxiliary shore power cord for just the converter. That allows me to do double conversion when there is limited amperage and/or low voltage.
