Can't run A/C at home: solved -- see 8/21/16 update

I've sure never heard of an RV air conditioner that will do a low-voltage shutdown, then automatically restart. Is there maybe a "surge protector" or EMS in play here? As far as the adapter suggestion goes, the post suggesting it very specifically said a 14-30 outlet, which has a neutral. A follow-up cautioning that there are different types of dryer outlets is in order, but IMO dumping on the technically correct 14-30 post isn't.
