Can't run A/C at home: solved -- see 8/21/16 update

Turn on the ac.

put the prongs into any 120 volt outlet in the RV.

Read the voltage.

I measured the voltage in the outlet and the cords by inserting the two multimeter leads into the openings. When the A/C is on, the prongs of the plugs are occupying those openings -- no place to stick the leads!!
