I don't care what the 2000w inverter draws in stand-by. That is what the remote on/off is for :)
I have the rig on a 400w inverter I got at "The Source" (was Radio Shack) to run the TV etc and it just stays on forever. Don't care what it draws because we have solar, so whatever it draws it is peanuts in the greater scheme of things.
My previous Can Tire Xantrex PSW 1000w inverter fried itself after a while, when being asked to run the 700w Danby microwave that wanted 1050w. The inverter ran it ok but showed its overload lamp. I thought that was ok, but eventually the inverter quit. I took its lid off and there was all this black stuff around one or more of its circuit board components. RIP PSW 1000 watter!
So now it is the 2000w and the 400w both MSW in the 5er. That did allow me to get a bigger microwave than the 700w Danby though, now that we are back to a 2000w inverter in the 5er. (The 5er's original Sharp 1000w microwave (wants 1550w input) ended up in the truck camper to be run by the old Vector 2000, so now we got a Danby 1000 from Walmart on sale for $68 (whee!) to replace the little 700 which goes back to being a spare in the attic.
You don't need to memorize all that, there will not be a quiz!
