My 2003 5er did not come with a CO alarm. It does have an LP alarm.
I have seen about the 5 yr limit but ours at 15 years (trailer built in Oct 02) is still flashing green like it should. I can understand that means nothing as far as its sensors go.
However, sometimes when battery charging to high voltages, I forget to vent enough and fumes get into the trailer itself. This sets off the LP alarm which flashes red and beeps. You can also really smell the battery fumes inside the trailer.
Clear that up with venting, and it returns to flashing green, no beeps. This makes me think the LP alarm still works after 15 years, and never mind the "5 year rule."
I don't know. Propane fumes are not the same as battery fumes of course, but you have to wonder. Anyway, I still haven't swapped it out for a new one.
I am willing to have my arm twisted on that.
