YES....carbon monoxide are reliable. They do have a self life (as do most any detector sensor).
RV furnace........very safe. Combustion and exhaust occurs 'outside' the RV.
Cracked combustion chambers do happen but rare....and there is a high temp limit switch that will stop furnace operation.
Furnace problems are more due to not working...because of lack of use and/or routine cleaning.
Greater chance of having problems due to propane because somebody accidentally bumped a stove top burner knob on and propane leaking out unlit burner.
RV propane appliances are pretty darn safe
