- cougar28ExplorerFirst drain the old gas and carbs if gas in them. Check oil level and put in fresh gas and give it try. If your lucky it will start and run fine if not your going to have to clean carb-rebuild or replace. After you get it running you may have to flash the generator to get it to produce AC voltage.
- RvpapaExplorerAs stupid as it sounds, when all the gas is drained, turn the unit s-l-o-w-l-y end over end and also sideways. Having a bit of oil spread around will help a lot for longer life.
Art, - Switch on, pull rope. If it starts fine. If not then do all the other stuff.
- MEXICOWANDERERExplorerI like RVPapas suggestion. On big engine restarts they turn on the lube oil pump for 5-minutes before cranking. My Kubota has a 24 volt gear pump that pressures up to 15 PSI to purge the Luberfiner lines.
- mobeewanExplorerI have a Champion 3000/3500 watt that I forgot to drain. The gas had fuel stabilizer on it. It sat in storage for almost 2 years. I checked the oil level, turned the fuel valve on, flipped the switch to on and set the choke. It started on the second pull. Ran like a Champ-ion.
If you're stunting start you might want to start by draining the gas and putting in fresh. Check the oil as usual. - MrWizardModeratorthe Champion 2000 is an 'inverter' type generator
you cant 'FLASH' it, because the inverter section produces the 120v
and is separate from the high voltage DC alternator, and that is different than the AC voltage generator head in an Onan or other synchronous generator, which connects directly to the output - midnightsadieExplorer IIdrain the fuel, I would not take the chance of pumping that goo threw my system , mix up some fuel and sea foam put in the tank then try starting.
- Dave_H_MExplorer III would have already done it timetorol's way.
BTW my D 15 has not been run for a year. Gonna try to crank her up today. Think I should roll it around in the barn first? ;) - bighatnohorseExplorer IIAlways use premium "top tier" gas. One of my small engine machines sat for two years and still started without drain gas or other measures.
