IF the carb is totally clean

i would recheck that valve clearance

IIRC these have a tendency to tighten up and not open the valves enough for proper exhaust and fuel intake
and when adjusting you should 'err' on the low side of clearance, going for the minimum clearance
too much rocker/cam/rod gap and the valves don't open all they way
