i stand by what i said.

engine's under light load will hunt.

engines at full throttle or heavy load, may stumble for a second, then will shut pretty much straight off. i proved this 20 minutes ago when my generator under full load shut off from lack of fuel, just stumbled for about 3 seconds and shut straight off.

op needs to spray carb cleaner when it stalls, its the quickest test.
