This unit is NOT an inverter generator and will make more noise because it must run at full speed even with a tiny load. However at full load all gennies are similarly noisy.
There are many here who feel that everyone must spend $2,000.00 for a Honda for even one weekend a year of camping. Those people will chime in and try to convince you that the Champion is a "contractor" grade gennie (it's not), or that the reliability is questionable. The Champion 3500/4000 is more reliable than the Honda, at a fraction of the price.
