Has anyone started out with an ebay cheapo and then upgraded to a morningstar?? If so, did you see any real difference??...tia

Does the cheap Chinese unit have a temperature probe? If not, you are comparing apples to oranges.
Where I live, temperature control for charging is a "must do" because of our extremes of temperatures.
It is always good to optimize charging voltage.
