Over the years I have never had much luck with re-couping the truck start batteries after they have been run down.
I would think the slow long term charge would be the best bet.
Thinking back 30-40 years the garages would hit them with as much volatge as they could come up with and do a quick one to two hours of charge. Those batteries would be almost be glowing RED HOT...
I saw one blow up once at a garage. The top of the battery went up on the roof of the garage...
I seem to always have to replace my truck start battery if it ever goes dead over the winter months...
