Folks with Fords can check and see if a direct fit bolt-on Nippondenso 200 - 270 ampere alternator is available for their unit. The advantage is this. Hot alternator, in-gear idle output is 130 amperes. The design is called HAIRPIN. It is Nippondenso Ford factory stock option so it is compatible with the vehicle.
With a 5th wheel, it may pay to use good 2 gauge jumper cables to a larger battery bank.
When space is limited, charging time is precious, charging amperage is abundant and more capacity is needed, AGM batteries might be a consideration. They do charge faster than a flooded battery.
