All these methods suck.
It takes forever - think DAYS - to charge battery fully with a generator and proper charger. 7 pin is worse yet. Charging with shore power is less pain - you can plug it in for a couple of days. It shouldn't get too low after a week even if left 80% charged though. Could be parasitic draws of 5-er. Or a dying battery - yes, you can kill it in a few months. Disconnect battery completely when in storage and/or put on shore maintainer or cheap solar maintainer.
Contrary to popular belief, mid-to-big solar isn't more expensive than a decent generator. But it has its limitations.
