That is exactly how it works. But you don't look at your meter so maybe you wouldn't notice.;) In Absorb it only takes a .2 volt drop below set point to revert to MPPT. Setting the float voltage higher as the OP did makes it harder to maintain that voltage in float if there is much of any load. The controller will revert to MPPT more easily or quicker.
I "think" that Rogue, same as any other MPPT controller, will also run MPPT when, while being in Float, you suddenly turn some high load on. So high that the panel can't supply enough current to maintain Float.
This is correct.
