Thanks for remembering my travails, Bob. Yes, the smog turned out fine. I documented it all in that other thread.
The more I read, the more I understand and agree with your isolator comment, Bob. The center gets voltage from the alt. and the top terminal sends out voltage. The bottom terminal sends out something like 5 volts. I NEED the RV for this weekend, so I think I might just try to find a replacement isolator locally (cheap) and then go the complete replacement route to a bidirectional isolator as Wanderer suggest. If I can't find a replacement isolator locally (at reasonable cost), it sounds like I could just connect alt. to both batteries, insulate the snot out of it and everything will work fine (but I lose the isolator feature). Would that be a correct/safe temp. solution until I replace the isolator?
