Depends very much on which charger and which converter and the wiring to that converter in the Rv.
But yes, I found that a 20amp Vector portable smart charger did way better than my installed 7355 so called 55 amper. It was all about voltage and voltage drop. (I found later that with improved wiring the 7355 will indeed do 55 amps)
Much learned since those days! Now I can charge at 156 amps using a combo of installed and portable chargers. Of course your battery bank has to be big enough and low enough to accept the amps you can supply.
