The 35-ampere charge rate would be fine.
First of all trying to manage AGM without benefit of an amp-hour meter is difficult. A better-than-nothing method to see if your batteries are sulfated is to measure impedence then perform a full-on load test with a carbon pile load tester between the two devices a sulfated battery which has lost capacity will stand out. A Harbor Fright load tester coupled to a digital ammeter and digital voltmeter will offer definitive resolution. Comparing present readings to brand new battery readings is the scale that matters.
Try charging to 14 8 volts one time while keeping an eye on battery temperarure. If the battery temp goes > 20F over air temp stop the charge. How many +amp hours were accumulated? If 10% of amp hour rating or more the battery is being undercharged. Do not keep charging when voltage has reached 14.8 charger potential MUST be at least 10% of total amp hour capacity kf bsttery under test.
