Lifeline states that carbon pile testers, impedance meters, etc are not reliable in determining a Lifeline battery’s actual capacity.
Instead they recommend a 25A discharge on a fully charged battery and compare that to the published rating. They further detail what to look for and when to do the conditioning procedure all of which is in the manual I linked above.
Carbon pile testing etc is of course quicker and less involved. In the 30 years that I’ve been replacing batteries I’ve only found one good battery shop that used the Lifeline equivalent procedure which at that time was for my flooded deep cycle batteries.
