Lifeline's tech manual at the end(page 29) says seeing the sides bulging or convex or concave is to be expected. I did notice them bulging a bit when approaching the 0.5a at 14.4 threshold, then the next day after removing charging source, I saw them concaving inward.
I have held my Northstar at 14.5v for much longer than I meant to, I thought I had reduced voltage to 13.6v.My monitor indicated it was taking 0.0 amps at 14.5v. Apparently a Dead stop, but perhaps a more sensitive meter could have seen the current required to hold it there.
I am still impressed with the voltages the NS does hold when depleted to 50%. It will be 2 years old in November and has ~ 65 cycles on it down to at least 60% and 75 cycles to ~85%. I always try to blast it with as high an amperage as I can muster at the lowest level of discharge.
I try to avoid letting the solar do the low and slow thing to it. it Obviously does not like low and slow.
While I am impressed with its performance so far, I know it is not on the same level as Lifeline.
