My solar justification was to finish charging the $ AGMs without having to run the gen all day and ideally not at all. While this was accomplished there are a number of design tradeoffs by Monaco that are less than ideal. Some of them:
1. 2 different battery banks
2. 2 different charging sources - alternator and charger - and now solar
3. Very extended distance from the house batteries located aft to virtually all house loads and the charger.
4. Magnum charger/inverter cost design tradeoffs limiting charging capability.
5. etc
I'm interested in to whatever extent possible on a automatic hands off approach. As an example when I drive from the 100F+ SW to the 60F coast I'm there to enjoy that location and not twist the charging dials. To a large extent I can twist the dials as all of the information like temperatures, voltages, amps, charging/discharging are all available on installed displays above the TV. I do, however, observe and twist the dials due to interest and my first year as a "solar expert". :B
Anyway certainly appreciate all of the input from the various threads.
Maybe I'll look further into a second manual charger so that I can better meet the Mex criteria on shore/gen power. 50A noonish solar apparently needs help from a sustained basis criteria.
