MEXICOWANDERER
Jul 14, 2015Explorer
Isn't "politely sarcastic" an oxymoron? Like my Montana rancher uncle used to quip: "Sonny, ya got to be smarter than the problem".
In the days before automation people were thoroughly pleased with an ice box, propane wall lantern and a mattress that could have been salvaged from an unsuccesfull Mexican revolutionary camp.
Thinlite came out with expensive fluorescent fixtures RVers rejoiced while the ends of fluorescent tubes blackened every other month and cost five dollars.
Not Any More
Modern day RVers demand 5th Avenue Penthouse luxury. Remote control this and "it thinks for me" that.
There arises one problem...
Chemistry. Complex chemistry. Made obtuse because eletricity is part of the equation. From what I've read on RV forums, battery management only becomes a "problem" when it robs time away from screwing around with ten thousand luxury gizmos that did not exist twenty uears ago.
Audit your RV day. A diary. How many minutes was spent doing what. You are going to find battery management to occupy .01% of your time. Chemistry could care less what you consider to be important. Batteries are never hands-off. They require "X" amount of time. Batteries can be ignired at the expense of ruined trips and a person's bank balance.
Yeah I get frustrated trying to dash reality in the face of Plug N Play when it comes to maintaining batteries. But I was not kidding about the minimum time needed to manage batteries. Some people balk at the thought any time out of the recliner is truly necessary. I can hope my sarcasm has really and truly caught more attention than just yours. Please do not be offended. I have stood on my head on this forum trying to let folks know what will and what will not work. Plug N Play Plug N Play Plug N Play. I have to play by the rules of reality myself. Please never forget that. :) :) :) :) :) :)
