Why does my 2017 Ford V-10 check engine light stay on?

The DW and I have a reader from HFT in our DDs and one in the MoHo. Wife insisted we get one for each of our daughters and grandkids.
The only fault I'v had so far is the gas cap error. I automatically check the cap before I get the reader if I get a code.
