Based on the existing 6 gauge wiring being the main issue, I've been looking at moving the converter. I have a compartment right next to the batteries that has plenty of room but there are propane lines running through it. Does anyone see an issue with that?
That wouldn't in itself concern me. I have a propane line (as built by the RV maker) that goes a few inches above the batteries on my RV. (There was an angle iron next to it whose purpose, so far as I can make out, was to help keep stuff from bumping into the propane line, and secondarily to provide a handy electrical ground.) Obviously you don't want to tempt fate by, for instance, having the output terminals of the converter a half inch from the propane line, or using it as a mounting bracket, or something like that.
If it makes you feel better, slip a length of split loom wiring protector stuff over the propane lines to help insulate them from any wire that might happen to get loose and flop around.
