Coleman HP2 Heat Pump Thermostat

I really dislike the thermostat logic they have designed to use with this heat pump. It basically operates using a series of "lockouts" vs. using an outside temperature sensor.

I would like to use a different thermostat that includes outside temps so I can use setpoints instead of lockouts. Any ideas?
