Thanks Road-runner!! The IG800w is quieter than I thought, being within measurement error of the spec surprises me (a fair bit) on a lower end unit!
The Yamaha 1000 watt would be even quieter (they claim 47 dbs at low output, didn’t see a distance) but there is a significant price difference and you have provided an excellent data point as I have a good idea what the Honda units sound like. Thanks for taking the time to do that, if we ever meet up I owe you a beer at least.
The *** could a little worrying, does it repeatedly give up at less than 800 watt load or do I misread that 782 number?
BTW, for all those pushing larger units -> These smaller units are under 30 pounds, the IG800w is 21, way less than half a 2kw Honda and a third of my 2.2Kw unit. I just need battery charging most trips, and as mentioned it needs to be easy for the DW to use .... ;-)
