I did more digging on the Honda website and the companion only is to be used in parallel mode with a plain 2200.
Link please.

The Honda website says this:
Double your power with parallel capability
Need more power? Connect the EU2200i Companion with a regular EU2200i for up to 4400 watts of power.

That doesn't sound like it can't be used alone.
It has a 30a and 20a socket. What would the 20a socket be for if it can't be used alone? Makes no sense.
OP Here,
Hence my confusion. I did even more digging and now I can't find the webpage that stated to be used with plain 2200. So might be my confusion.
The plain 2200 has two 15 amp outlets and 12 volt USB etc outlets.
The companion has a 20 amp and a 30 amp outlet but only in parallel otherwise the 20 amp is a 15amp On the faceplate it states above the outlets 15amp and below 20amp and 30amp during parallel operation. So yes it could be used alone but you would have only one 15amp outlet to use. I THINK:?
Are there any Honda companion owners users out there to help me understand this?
