The $64,000 question is, what filled the coal energy void??
In many cases the curtailment of coal was made possible by vast sums of more cost effective natural gas - this, the result of newer fracking technology…Had this technology not been available, what then??…Surely Walmart would have had a rush on portable electric heaters, and concurrent with trendy EV charging, taxing the grid to it’s absolute outer limits…Meanwhile, esteemed political amateurs (problem solvers - NOT!) point to ‘intermittent’ purple unicorn energy sources…Fact is, this storybook example is not too far from becoming our actual third-world reality - Seriously, what’s gone wrong with America?… Where have all the Adults gone??
