If the Powermax would drop to 14.2 volts for 3 to 6 hours(like the IOTA) before going to float-storage mode I would recommend it highly.
The other bug with voltage sensitive Powermax is the RV wire size. Powermax may well go to 14.6 volts but the battery could be just 13.6 or even less. I believe BFL13 has his manual Powermax as a portable right on the battery with short fat cables. This would help any converter. I assume when people are looking for a converter it will be installed near the power center like OEM and subject to the voltage drop.
