converter going?

any way to tell if the converter is going out? i am getting random dimming of my lights then they come back to bright. i think the park power is ok and i use a surge protector.

  • Not failing. It is completely shot. Anyway check the battery while you are at it.
  • battery is 4 years old but seems to be holding 12.5 volts after a 2 hour disconnect.
  • Your symptoms are classic for a failing converter. You can get the battery tested but I think you're going to end up upgrading your converter anyway.
  • Sounds like it is toast.Mine did the same thing and I Checked it out like RJsfishin suggested.

    Then replaced the lousy WFCO with a Progressive Dynamics converter and all was just fine.
  • With 110V AC input to converter it should at minimum have 13.2V DC output.
    Measure DC output at converter with battery cables disconnected.

    Also check specific gravity of each battery cell to verify condition of battery
  • Even if the batts were going south, the converter should hold voltage steady.
    But then, if the battery were to short itself inside, then who knows.
    But check voltage, and if fluctuating, check all connections in your electrical panel.
    But if its a Wfco, THERES the problem :)
