I am trying to learn here what sequence lets the converter ramp up easier and avoid as much as possible nasty surges or whatever goes on inside the converter that would over-stress its components. Maybe it makes no difference what the sequence is.
I don't know what caused the trouble before, whether it was just bad components or from me zapping it somehow. The latter seems more likely! The discussion on capacitor unloading and restarting too soon for in-rush struck me as a good possibility since it was the in-rush thermistor that caught fire and I was trying things out where I restarted right away. But I don't have a cause and effect evidence trail, only suspicions.
