The advice here is to leave the disconnect switch open, turn on the converter, let it warm up, and then close the switch.
If you can vary the DC output voltage of the converter/charger, then it is likely better to start off with a lower voltage so you get below rated amps at first, then step it up to full output. (A Vector charger does that by itself, which must make for a "softer start")
