I believe the four minute waits today for cool-down must have been sufficient since it worked every time. I did not search for the least amount of time! I picked four minutes out of my hat. It was much longer than those suspected restart-fail episodes when they blew in the first place.
If nothing else, it seems we have established that there is a 'better way' to start up these high amp converters.
-start first no load
-add battery load second
-increase battery load after that if needed.
-wait four minutes if a restart is needed from Honda popping breaker, using above sequence all over again--don't hit with a full load.
This is easy with my clamp on converter acting as a portable charger, but if the converter is installed in an RV, then you would have to use your battery disconnect switch instead of clamps to do that sequence.
