So my new, new plan :) is to use a single 5R020 in the older one and see how that goes, and get some SL32 2R025s to try in the newer one later.
With their redesign of the newer one using one less coil and a bigger thermistor, I just don't think it would be right to use the same smaller thermistor as the previous design had (as its upgrade from an even smaller thermistor)
Is there any agreement that the 2R 25a would be a reasonable compromise for what is needed here? or at least no worse than the 5R020? I have no means to evaluate conflicting advice on this topic.
If the 020 fails after a while in the older one, I would replace that with an 025 and see how that goes.
BTW, the older one is a straight PM3, so I can use it as a converter if ever needed, but the newer one is a variable voltage type without automatic 3-stage (AFAIK from playing with it, and as described for the production showroom ones on the PM site)
I can keep the PM3 around for if ever the 7355 fails (no sign of that) and keep on using the newer one as a 100a Vector like I have been (saves dragging out three 35a Vectors in a tangle of wires and clamps)
