So I have it backwards? Increasing both ratings is the way to go, not dropping the R while increasing the current and energy ratings?
I think the way that red spot came on in the side of the already partly gone 020 thermistor that time yesterday on start-up and then quickly "went out" before getting bigger shows that the in-rush was over quickly and things settled down. ?
In the case some months ago I saw with the smaller 15a thermistor that caught fire, it got a red spot that grew in size and destroyed the thermistor in flame and smoke. In the photo of the newer, bigger thermistor you can see where it must have shot some flame onto the metal casing next to it and left that brown spot. I believe these failures are all start-up related, since I have not been leaving the converter on, and my individual recharges are under two and a half hours long, a few days apart, with weeks between those. Especially since I got solar, there is seldom a chance to use the 100amper, so it doesn't get the hours on it.
